Develop open and secure Artificial Intelligence products and services. This is the goal of the AI Alliance, an initiative launched by IBM and Meta.
It encompasses companies, developers and users and has 50 founding members globally including AMD, CERN, DellTechnologies, Oracle, Red Hat, Sony Group, NASA, several universities and startups.
As a note from Meta explains, AI Alliance is focused on enhancing an open community, and on empowering developers and researchers to "accelerate responsible innovation in the field of artificial intelligence, while ensuring scientific rigor, trust, safety, diversity, and economic competitiveness." It will focus resources and knowledge to explore security issues, while also providing a platform for sharing and developing solutions.
The alliance wants to identify benchmarks within which to create AI-centric projects, but also to support developers in integrating these metrics into their products.
Meta, together with IBM, will therefore incentivize the adoption of technological tools capable of supporting the burden of the creation of AI services. The aim is "to show how members are using open technology in AI, responsibly and for collective benefit". The initiative will kick off with the formation of working groups led by members of the main thematic areas. The Alliance will also establish a board of directors and a technical oversight committee. "We propose to collaborate with important initiatives that already exist," the note continues, "promoted by institutions, non-profit organizations and society, which are carrying out valuable work in line with the development of artificial intelligence."
