If you are already planning your holiday for 2024, make sure that it is not as crowded as in Venice, for example, in addition to the season. If you want to discover new, unusual places, don't let yourself be guided by social media recommendations or places from movies and series. In doing so, you are not only doing the local nature a favor, but also the locals who are annoyed by mass tourism.

What places to visit in 2024:

  • Albania: The country is often excluded by travellers, while neighbouring Greece is a highlight for holidaymakers. However, the country allows for typical features that are likely to please travelers. "Albania's coastline on the Ionian Sea offers all the typical charms of the Mediterranean Riviera, but without crowds and high prices," inform the experts at Fodor's. A good time to visit the Albanian Riviera is from May to September.
  • Norway: Do you like mountains, but also fjords? Bergen, Norway, has both. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage City and European Capital of Culture, according to the portal Visitbergen. For example, you can go hiking or boat tours there.
  • France: Do you want to combine modernity with historical fair and culture? Then why not go to Rouen next year? The city is about a two-hour drive from Paris and is also located on the Seine. Once upon a time, the artist Cloude Monet worked in Rouen. Travel reporter reports that he is said to have painted the Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral around 28 times.
  • Romania: Do you like medieval towns? Then go to Sighișoara. The historic center of the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. Interesting for all fans: Vlad III, better known as Dracula, was born in the city, informs the portal Holidays in Romania. The birthplace is said to be located near the Citadel Square.
