In Guadeloupe, investigators have identified a link between the discovery of the body of a young man with his throat slit and that of the charred corpse of a woman, the prosecutor of Pointe-à-Pitre said on Tuesday (December 5th). A "charred vehicle in which the body of a woman was located" was discovered Monday morning in Goyave (eastern Basse-Terre), magistrate Caroline Calbo said in a statement. The body has not yet been identified. "Investigations by the gendarmerie's research section have confirmed the link between this discovery" and the body found on Sunday on the beach of Viard, in Petit-Bourg, said Caroline Calbo.
A walker had discovered the body of a young man "which had stab wounds including a deep wound to the throat," the magistrate said on Sunday. The autopsy of the victim, "a 20-year-old Guadeloupean man", "confirmed the criminal lead", said Caroline Calbo.
According to local media, the disappearance of a 19-year-old woman, reported on social media, may be linked to the case. "Investigations are continuing to identify the perpetrator(s) of these acts, several leads are currently being explored," added Caroline Calbo, who opened an investigation on Sunday for murder.
