On Saturday (9 December), luminous stars and fire bowls will once again immerse the centre of Lenggries in a special atmosphere. That's what the "Magic of Lights" is all about.

Lenggries – Lenggries will be filled with Christmas splendour on Saturday, 9 December. Then, from 15 p.m. to 21 p.m., the popular "Magic of Lights" will take place again in the center of the village. The Christmas market lives up to its name with many luminous stars and fire bowls that create a cosy atmosphere. There will be a total of 50 market stalls, and numerous shops will be open until 20 pm.

"Magic of Lights" with spelt gingerbread and bread on a stick

As every year, the "Magic of Lights" is organized by the advertising association. Basically, the tried-and-tested stands are represented again, says chairwoman Eva-Maria Hofer. "The Bredlsport Oberland association is new with a stand." Kindergartens are also represented. St. Josef surprises with a live jukebox. "Everyone is really looking forward to it," says Hofer. In addition, the little ones sell home-baked spelt gingerbread for the benefit of children with cancer. The St. Jakobus kindergarten offers hand-made Christmas tree decorations, at the forest kindergarten Auenland you can get stick bread.

A crèche has also been rebuilt, but without live animals for animal welfare reasons, as Hofer says. At the many stalls there are also homemade products from home and craftsmen. Many clubs are also represented: fire brigade, tennis club and beekeepers' association, for example. According to a press release, the latter offers honey, various waxes, honey candies and gummy bears, soaps and creams. Volunteers to set up the stand are welcome from 13 p.m.

"Magic of Lights" vouchers for the Lenggrieser Tafel

The Ice Hockey Friends of Lenggries will also be part of the "Magic of Lights". According to secretary Helmut Henkel, the stand can be found at the Holzner fruit house near the station square. In addition to mulled wine, children's punch and cold drinks, grilled meat and sausages as well as potato noodles are offered.

The Lenggries SPD has already distributed gifts in the run-up to the "Magic of Lights". The chairmen Tobias Raphelt and Bastian Kadach handed over 50 meal vouchers for their stand to the Lenggrieser Tafel, which were distributed to the customers last weekend. "We look forward to seeing you at our booth and cordially invite everyone else to join us as well," says Raphelt. At the location opposite the Alpenfestsaal, you can enjoy chilli con carne, pea soup and mulled gin, among other things.

In addition to the delicacies already mentioned, there are other interesting culinary offerings, according to Hofer: for example, vegetarian burgers, fruit juices, crêpes and chips.

St. Nicholas comes with angels to the "magic of lights"

The supporting program is also impressive: For the children, St. Nicholas comes with his angels at 16 p.m. and distributes gifts at the town hall square. At 17 p.m. and 17.30 p.m. there will be a Punch and Judy show in the library.

Musically, there will be various performances: The "Organ Pipes" will sing after the opening at 15.15 p.m. on the town hall square, at 17.30 p.m. the Isarwinkl youth band will make music, followed by the "Choir for all cases" from 18.30 p.m. At 19 p.m., the brass band of the Lenggries brass band will play on the balcony of the "Altwirt". Just this week, another item on the program was confirmed: The Penzberger Beaschd'n will run through the market from about 16.30 p.m.

According to Hofer, parking at the park-and-ride area at the train station is not restricted by the masses of snow. "Fortunately, the trains are now running again. That's helpful." She hopes it stays that way. Experience has shown that many of the expected 3000 visitors come by bus or train.
