Highlights: From spring 2024: Renovation of Altenstadter Straße in Schongau. Cost: around 165,000 euros. What exactly can be done for the cyclists is still being determined. Currently, the bus stop is hardly used, Gregor Schuppe (ALS) shared his observations. The city and its adjoining part hang on to the municipal boundary. Only eleven percent of all roads in Schongsau are in worse condition - although Altenstatter Strasse was still rated as'mediocre' in 2020.

Schongau – In addition to Peitinger Strasse (we reported), it will also be Altenstadter Strasse's turn in 2024: The State Building Authority wants to renovate it between Wilhelm-Köhler- and Franz-Josef-Strauss-Strasse in the spring. The city and its adjoining part hang on to the municipal boundary.

It is time for the renovation, says the city building department. Only eleven percent of all roads in Schongau are in worse condition - although Altenstadter Straße was still rated as 'mediocre' in 2020. While the State Building Authority is planning a somewhat more far-reaching measure, including binder course, in the Hollberg area the substructure is also being strengthened, the city is limiting its section to the surface course. This is sufficient at this point and is more economical, according to Martin Blockhaus from the city planning office. Cost: around 165,000 euros. The councillors were unanimous in favour. What exactly can be done for the cyclists is still being determined.

The committee is in no hurry to make the Altenstadter Straße/Schönlinderstraße bus stop barrier-free and to equip it with a waiting hall. These 40,000 euros, of which 12,250 would have to be borne by the city, could be saved for the time being and wait for further developments in terms of bus transport, everyone thought. Currently, the bus stop is hardly used, Gregor Schuppe (ALS) shared his observations.
