Like many of his classmates, this second-year student at the Lycée International de l'Est Parisien (Liep), in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis), did not taste what he found on his plate this Friday at lunchtime. Billed as the "meat-free" option served in the canteen, this "cheese polenta with green beans" was mostly paired with... maggots!

"A friend told me she had found one in her polenta," said a 15-year-old boy, who asked not to be named. We didn't really pay attention at the time.
