Lionel Scaloni, the coach of the Argentine National Team, reappeared, who in his last appearance after the victory over Brazil at the Maracanã for the Qualifiers, had questioned his continuity at the helm of the team. He did not speak in the build-up, but he did speak at the draw ceremony for the 2024 Copa America group draw to be held in the United States.
Scaloni was seated in one of the first rows next to the stage he later entered with the original Copa America trophy, the same one that in 2021 was lifted by the Argentine National Team, in what was La Scaloneta's first title.
"I don't have the memory of having her with me so much, I think when I had her with me the most was when I brought her walking. It's beautiful," said the coach, already on stage, next to the trophy.
"Hopefully we can win again, it's very difficult, but the Argentine National Team is doing very well," he analyzed and for the first time since the last match he coached, at the Maracanã when Argentina beat Brazil for the Qualifiers for the next World Cup, he spoke again about the team he leads.
After that win over Brazil last month and his closing in the press conference in which he did not make it clear if he would continue at the helm of the team, Scaloni did not speak again and there was speculation about a summit meeting with the president of the AFA, Claudio Tapia, prior to the ceremony that takes place in Miami. in which there was finally a rapprochement.
Recalling the conquest of the Copa America, a title that Argentina will defend in the next competition, Scaloni was questioned by the presenters of the event about the importance of that championship that shortly afterwards he was able to replicate in the World Cup in Qatar.
"We were coming from a hard time in everyone's life due to the pandemic. It was a difficult cup with the spice of having won it at the Maracanã. It was the beginning of a good era, you could say that's where it all started, yes," he confirmed.
