Was the meeting to sell a jogging suit an ambush? A 16-year-old teenager was fatally stabbed in the early evening in the Avenue du Colonel Fabien, in Valenton (Val-de-Marne). According to the initial investigation, the victim was supposed to sell a piece of clothing after being contacted via the online sales site Vinted.
At around 20 p.m., for reasons still undetermined, an altercation reportedly broke out between the minor and several people, possibly five or six. One of them then allegedly pulled out a knife before stabbing the victim in the thigh. At this stage, we do not know if any suspects have been arrested or not. "The victim was hit in the femoral artery," a source close to the case said. Rescue efforts to try to bring him back to life were in vain. Police personnel were deployed to preserve the crime scene.
"It's a tragedy," said Metin Yavuz, the mayor (LR), who heard the news as he was leaving a party to honour the town's young graduates. The victim "would not be from the commune", according to the mayor.
At the beginning of the year, in mid-January, a 16-year-old minor died during a brawl a stone's throw from the Guillaume-Apollinaire high school in Thiais. He had also been fatally stabbed.
