Lorch – On December 7, 2023, Neue Deutsche Welle star Markus Mörl (64) came forward with bad news. After a brutal attack, the singer had to go to the hospital. But it's not just the broken nose that's bothering him – it's the shock that's deep-seated. His wife Yvonne König (52) also suffers. In conversation with IPPEN. MEDIA talks to her about the robbery and gives a health update.
Markus Mörl is in pain – but the psychological damage is greater after the brutal attack
Armed with a stone, the perpetrator had stormed into the street and attacked Markus Mörl in his car. The police are investigating the unknown man who caused significant injuries to the musician. Shortly after the robbery, Markus is still not feeling well. "He's in pain, of course it hurts. But the psychological damage, you have to see what comes out of it. Because they are attacked just like that – out of nowhere, that's of course the absolute horror," his wife gives an honest update.

Fortunately, the 64-year-old will probably not suffer any permanent physical damage. Nevertheless, the injuries are so serious that he also has to take a break from his job. The singer cannot attend appointments on weekends. "The doctor said that now at the weekend it will be difficult to sing [...], because the nose is swollen, because it has opened," explains Yvonne.
In two to three weeks, everything will be healed and Markus does not have to fear any permanent damage to his career. The fact that the media has already reported on an imminent end to her career makes Yvonne quite sad and angry at the same time.

Yvonne is also currently in the hospital – she has had a planned operation. The fact that her partner is now in such a bad way also affects her own health. "Of course, I'm also traumatized. When you suddenly see how quickly something can be over. Just over may be ping. Oh man, oh man, oh man," she says, shocked by what has happened.

The perpetrator has not yet been brought to justice. "The investigation is ongoing, it's a criminal offense," Yvonne clarifies. The pop singer and her husband next want to seek legal counsel who is familiar with the issue. Yvonne herself has also had a difficult time: Because she has been plagued by a persistent cough for three years, Markus Mörl's wife was suspected to have cancer.
