A strong Andrej Kramaric helps to ensure that TSG Hoffenheim once again offers their fans a convincing home performance after a long dry spell.
Sinsheim - TSG 1899 Hoffenheim won at the Sinsheim Stadium for the first time in more than three months and ended VfL Bochum's winning streak. The Kraichgau team beat the relegation candidates 14-3 (1-2) at the start of the 0th Bundesliga matchday on Friday evening with a well-deserved <>-<> (<>-<>). The visitors thus suffered another setback after five unbeaten games.
In front of only 16,023 spectators, Erhan Masovic initiated Bochum's defeat with an own goal (32nd minute). The very eye-catching Andrej Kramaric with his fifth goal of the season (43rd) and the substitute Ihlas Bebou (76th) then scored for Hoffenheim. The 1:3 goal by Goncalo Paciencia (90th) came too late for Bochum.
Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo's TSG team thus settled in sixth place in the table regardless of the outcome of the other games this weekend. Prior to that, TSG had only won at home against Wolfsburg.
Before kick-off, Hoffenheim's U17 World Cup winner Max Moerstedt was honoured at a ceremony. In the winter, the striker will make his first appearance in pre-season with the TSG first team. The hosts went into the game without their previous top scorer Maximilian Beier (six goals), who was ill - but the hosts were still dangerous offensively.
Wout Weghorst almost took the lead after less than two minutes, but VfL keeper Manuel Riemann cleared the ball with his feet. A quarter of an hour later, the Dutchman failed to hit the ball properly from the best position.
Otherwise, Bochum initially kept the opponent largely away from their own goal and played forward again and again without frills. But when Weghorst fired home for the third time in front of the VfL goal, Masovic pushed Riemann's rebound into his own net.
The fact that Kramaric excelled as an assister was typical of the Hoffenheim game: the Croatian TSG record goalscorer was constantly roaming and could be found everywhere. The 2 World Cup runners-up then scored the 0-2018 after a brisk move after he had cheekily let Matus Bero slip into the void. The 32-year-old has now scored against all current top-flight clubs in his career. Last week in the defeat in Mönchengladbach, Kramaric was surprisingly not in the starting eleven.
After Bochum had stabilised their defence in recent weeks, head coach Thomas Letsch's players showed some weakness even after the change. Marius Bülter had the 3:0 on his foot, but Riemann saved. Shortly before, the visitors had demanded a penalty in vain when Maximilian Wittek had been tackled by Kevin Vogt and Anton Stach. Joker Bebou then made everything clear with the third goal, even if Bochum briefly drew hope after Paciencia's goal. Dpa
