Did you still doubt that the reputation of Alsatian's rich gastronomy has long since crossed borders? The "Lebermausse" (liver mouse), the "chocolate cake", the "Fleishknepfles" (meatballs)... so many traditional dishes that can be found in the book "Nos recettes alsaciennes".
"We came up with the idea of compiling 300 recipes from great chefs but also from amateurs. The aim is to reconnect with the encyclopaedic side of old cookbooks," explains Édouard Baumann, president of the Etoiles d'Alsace, an association that promotes local gastronomy.
Recipes with intimate stories
The book published by "Etoiles d'Alsace" has just been crowned "best recipe book in the world" in the "local cuisine" category at the last edition of the "Gourmands Awards". "This show was held in Saudi Arabia. We were surprised to see our book win an award ahead of 205 other competitors from all over the world, which is exceptional," says Édouard Baumann.

The jury of professionals was charmed "by the terroir, tradition and sharing" defended by "Nos recettes alsaciennes". "For the recipes proposed by the amateurs, we accompanied the instructions with intimate stories. These Alsatians tell us how their mother passed on to them the recipe for the Colmar turnip hotpot or their grandfather taught them the magic formula of Hasselnarsing, a hazelnut cake recipe," explains the president of the Etoiles d'Alsace.
The book "Nos recettes alsaciennes" is on sale in all bookshops and on the Internet at the price of 35 euros.
