The expansion and renovation of the Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium in Haar are delayed. A company went bankrupt, the new company has to work through its mistakes.
Haar – The expansion and general renovation of the Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium (EMG) in Haar is behind schedule. It takes a good three months longer – as of now. Completion was originally planned for autumn 2026.
A change of planner in the heating, ventilation, sanitary (HLS) trade is responsible for the delay. The previous contractor went bankrupt, the new one is working with commitment, but is struggling with some details. This has now been announced at the association meeting of the EMG special-purpose association. It turned out that the previous solitary view of the components could not be maintained, but that the various buildings were very strongly connected in terms of building technology. In addition, the as-built documentation was incomplete and did not correspond to the condition of the demolition work. This needs to be worked on and reworked in order to obtain a reliable overview.
Looking for grants
However, the HLS sector is now lagging far behind all others. The strengthening of the foundation has been completed, as well as the remediation of pollutants and the relocation of the school pond, but extensive fire protection deficiencies in the existing building have been identified. The effects of this are currently being worked out.
The costs for conversion and extension amount to a total of 40 million euros, including index increase and risk premium of 43.4 million euros. The costs of the expansion alone in the amount of 17.6 million euros will be funded by the Free State with 1.2 million euros, and a further 200,000 euros are expected from the Bavarian timber construction funding program. An external consultant also takes care of additional funding. Even after the renovation and expansion, the classrooms that have been rented by the neighbouring primary school at Jagdfeld since October 1972 are still needed. In addition, additional rooms are needed until the completion of the construction measures, so that the EMG rents 1500 square meters in the Jagdfeldschule. For this purpose, the rental costs will increase from 7.50 euros per square meter to 10 euros from January next year, and in total the room rent will cost just under 18,0000 euros per year.
The employees of the special purpose association of the Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium can rejoice: The association meeting decided to increase the performance pay for the years 20223 and 2024 by three percent.
