With the reinterpretation of a traditional dish, a Reddit user is causing outrage among fans of the Bavarian meat dish.
Munich/ Linz – "Imagination is more important than knowledge, because knowledge is limited." A beautiful quote attributed to Albert Einstein. So creativity can only be something worth striving for. Or? Maybe not always. Because as a Reddit user now proved with a photo from Linz, sometimes the tried and tested way is the best after all. Because: While it is widely known that Leberkas-rolls are incredibly delicious, the creativity of an unknown chef led to a heated debate about culinary freedom.
As you can see from the photo posted on the subreddit r/Linz, he has reinterpreted the tried and tested recipe without further ado. Instead of a juicy slice of Leberkas, there are sad snippets of meat in a flatbread, on top of which are raw onion rings, lettuce, tomatoes and sauce. Is that about... That's right: this creation is a Leberkäs kebab. Whew.
Leberkas' combination sparks discussion on Reddit
Many Reddit users find the photo not all that appealing and complain about the photo: "Take 2 great products and combine them into one shitty one," comments a Reddit user under a repost on the subreddit r/Dönerverbrechen. "Looks like sausage salad in a roll," someone else wonders. "Ugh, Deife oida," another commentator says indignantly. Incidentally, there is also a similar concept in the Free State, where the Bavarian favourite dish and the delicious kebab meet.
Others demand direct legal consequences for the author of the dish: "Yes, Mr. Inspector, this person here!" Another commenter agrees: "Please arrest directly!" "I was against the death penalty until this post," says Ander, who goes a step further.
The really important questions are also mentioned and so a user wants to know: "Woam or koid?"
But there are also brave people who are not deterred by the sight of the Franconian kebab. "Looks kind of 'fake' but somehow also cool, where can you get it?", one user informs. "I need the ... Right now!" agrees another. TikTok users were similarly stunned at the sight of this Leberkäs reinterpretation, which even used puff pastry.
