Once a month, the members of the "Pro Bahn" passenger association meet to discuss current topics, plan actions and announce news. The meeting always takes place near a train station, because of course everyone comes by train. This time to Schongau.
Schongau – "In the past, we always met in Weilheim, until the desire was expressed to organize a get-together at other stops," explained Norbert Moy, the deputy chairman of the passenger association. Among the 14 people present in the "Lechwirt" were also some representatives of the Fuchstalbahn working group with their spokesman Harald Baumann.

This brought the guests up to date and the current emotional state of the working group: "Now the potential analysis of the possible number of passengers on the route to Landsberg is underway. The first figures are expected to be available in early summer. And I have to admit that we are all totally curious and excited. It's a really difficult time right now."
Anecdotes and sometimes black humour
Because now there is nothing more that can be done for the time being. Sitting back and relaxing: this is a quality that does not distinguish any of those present. The discussions at the meeting revolved exclusively around the topic of rail. Whether via the second main line in Munich or personal experiences with the railway, insane decisions or misdeeds of politics, and also current train accidents were analyzed.
It was a colorful mix with many anecdotes, paired with partly black humor, but above all with well-founded knowledge. The train drivers' strike in November and now was also an issue. "That's a difficult thing," Moy said thoughtfully.
"Don't make yourselves expendable!"
On the one hand, even as a passenger, one understands the demands of the German Locomotive Drivers' Union (GDL). On the other hand, it must announce the strike well in advance and ensure that a reliable emergency timetable is drawn up. "This is a point that we keep admonishing at Deutsche Bahn: Don't make yourselves expendable! Because that's not how we're going to get more people to give up their cars."

Despite all the displeasure about the things that are going wrong with the railways in local and long-distance traffic, Moy was able to report a small partial success: From next Monday, 11 December, an additional train will run – except Sunday – from Schongau to Weilheim – at 23 p.m. Previously, the last train left at 22 p.m., after which there was a so-called "empty run". "This means that in the future, for example, you will be able to visit cultural events in the towns along the route in a relaxed manner." If the train is not cancelled. Unfortunately, this is something you have to expect on a regular basis at the moment.
Next meeting again in Weilheim
The next meeting, to which every rail fan is invited, will not take place until January. Then again in Weilheim in the inn "Schießstätte/DaFranco".
