After the heavy snowfall, temperatures are rising again. On the second weekend of Advent, the rivers can therefore burst their banks in many places in Bavaria. An overview of the situation.
Donauwörth – After the heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures on the first weekend in December, temperatures are rising again in many regions of Bavaria. The masses of snow are melting. As the German Press Agency (dpa) reports, this means that southern regions in Bavaria in particular are threatened by flooding:
The southern tributaries of the Danube, such as the Iller, Günz, Mindel, Zusam, Schmutter, Paar and Wörnitz, can reach alert level four on Sunday, 10 December, the Donauwörth water management office announced. In this case, built-up areas can also be flooded. Residential buildings in Geretsried and Wolfratshausen (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district) have also had to be evacuated.

Risk of flooding also in Franconia
Especially for large parts of the Danube, the Donauwörth water management office warns in advance. Major flooding of built-up areas cannot be ruled out. In other places in Bavaria, too, there may be a renewed danger situation due to the melting snow: Flooding is also possible in Upper and Middle Franconia on Sunday, December 10, several water management offices told the dpa. In many places, however, at most minor sprawls and flooding away from built-up areas are expected.
