Météo France places the Puy-de-Dôme department in orange vigilance "violent winds" this Saturday. Gusts of around 100 to 110 km/h are expected from 14 p.m. in the plains and on the hills of the Massif Central. This follows Depression Elin, which is circulating over Ireland and strengthening these winds.

"The wind will strengthen significantly, initially on the relief, then these strong gusts will spill over into the Clermont-Ferrand plain," the forecaster said in his bulletin published at 6 a.m. Winds are expected to weaken overnight, starting at 22 p.m.

Storm Federico already swept through the Puy-de-Dôme on 16 November, where a gust of 126 km/h was measured in Clermont-Ferrand. It had caused significant material damage.
