The parents and brother of Jina Mahsa Amini, who were due to receive the Sakharov Prize awarded to the young woman posthumously on Wednesday 13 December in Strasbourg, have been banned from leaving Iranian territory. "They are trying to silence us," lamented the father of the Iranian woman of Kurdish origin, whose death on September 16, 2022 after a police arrest for a badly worn headscarf triggered the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. On the other end of the line, Amjad Amini's voice echoes with sadness and incomprehension: "As soon as we arrived at Tehran International Airport on Friday, December 8, at around 23:30 p.m., our papers were confiscated for no reason at passport control. When we went to pick them up the next day at the assigned office, we were told that at the request of the Ministry of Intelligence, our family was forbidden to leave the country. Yet, no complaint has been filed against us...
