Geretsried - Recently, there has been a lot of advertising for the Geretsried Initiative Platform (GIP) among the citizens. For its new projects, the input of the city's residents is in demand.
In 2021, the retailers' association "ProCit" suggested the establishment of a Geretsried Initiative Platform (GIP), which is intended to implement projects to increase the quality of life in the city centre. Now the first ideas are to be implemented.
The participation of citizens is expressly encouraged. "The pool of movers and shakers is open to all age groups and population groups," explains Rebecca Geisler from the city's Department of Economic Development, Tourism, City Marketing & Urban Development. In October, interested parties were able to register at the municipal stand during the street artists' market on Karl-Lederer-Platz in order to receive all information about GIP projects in the future and then to get actively involved.
Ingenious ideas are welcome
"If you have a great idea, you can come to us," says Ludwig Schmid. The "ProCit" chairman is a member of the interdisciplinary committee, which consists of one representative each from the areas of retail, property owners, youth council, construction, culture, "ProCit", industrial community, economic development department and members of the city council parliamentary groups.
Money from the "Revitalize Inner Cities" fund provides significant support for the project
With this concentrated competence, the implementation of projects is to be checked and, in the best case, implemented quickly. In addition, the GIP has an annual budget of 40,000 euros at its disposal. 80 percent of this comes from the special fund "Revitalizing Inner Cities" of the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Building and Transport. The rest will be taken care of by the city of Geretsried.
"We guide the idea providers through the administrative jungle and have the money to implement the projects," Schmid promises. GIP has already partially implemented the greening of the city centre. Under the motto "Geretsried is blooming", Schmid distributed bags of flower bulbs this year. The symbolic significance is immediately apparent. This is because the interaction of different actors would make it possible, for example, to organise a special festival or other events. "I dream of a pop-up beer garden on the roof of the parking deck at the indoor swimming pool," says the "ProCit" chairman.
