With a week's delay: Finally the magic of the stalls around the Zehentstadel in Moosburg

Moosburg's Christmas market is not under a good star this year. After the postponement, the heating failed. Visitors still have fun.

Moosburg - They came in droves. Above all, families with children did not want to miss the kick-off on the large outdoor stage and the appearance of the new Christ Child Leoni Maier. Mayor Josef Dollinger joked in the presence of Moosburg Marketing Managing Director Thomas David: "Unfortunately, it's not quite as nice today as it was a week ago, when we had a little more snow." Far too much, actually, as he added, pointing out the problems that this had caused. But it is now a matter of "enjoying the beautiful ambience with the two church towers and great lighting," explained the head of the town hall. Like Dollinger, David also wished the stall owners good business and the people "a lot of fun" strolling and shopping.

To kick things off, surrounding angels rang the bell for the Christ Child

Before that happened, surrounding angels rang the bell for the Christ Child. Leonie Maier sounded in a clear voice: "From heavenly heights, that's where I come from, to stay in Moosburg, that makes me very happy." And she gave insights into what makes Christmas special in other countries. In Poland, therefore, an empty place setting is always provided for a guest. In Norway, there are no more brooms in the house on Christmas Eve, so that witches and evil spirits can't get up to mischief with them. The Irish put candles in the window to greet strangers. In Moosburg, the Christ Child comes and distributes Christmas cards to children.

Or there is a nice gift from St. Nicholas of the Kolping Family for them. This is what happened on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. Not to forget the extensive musical program. On Saturday evening, for example, the Freising singer-songwriter duo "Apollon Smile" performed. Marc Hanow and Julian Hobmeier performed a "Christmas Special".

Twelve stalls and 23 stalls await visitors

The offer at the Christmas market, which is still open next weekend, is impressive. Twelve stalls invite you to linger outside with mulled wine and gingerbread, and if it gets too cold and too wet, you can go inside the Zehentstadel in search of an original Christmas gift at a total of 23 stalls. There is no shortage of arts and crafts as well as warm winter clothes.

There was a lot of activity at the stands on Saturday. The stall operators had a lot to do. The mood was good – until the heating failed in the evening and it became very cold. Laura Klöck, project manager at Moosburg Marketing, immediately pulled out all the stops. But of course, it took a while for building yard employees to repair the heating system and get it going again.

When it finally started, there was an unpleasant smell of oil. It was time to open the windows and ventilate until the fog had cleared again. "We will give the stall operators a mulled wine as a small compensation," Klöck announced. They were visibly relieved.
