In Munich and other major German cities, the "Last Generation" sprayed Christmas trees on Wednesday. Activists were charged.
Munich – "In the midst of flashing lights, shiny jewelry and a festive atmosphere, it's easy to forget," warns the "Last Generation" on X. "We are racing full throttle into disaster." With less than contemplative actions at Christmas time, the climate protection group has tried to draw attention to its concerns. In several German cities, members sprayed Christmas trees with orange paint on Wednesday (13 December). In Munich, it hit the one at Sendlinger Tor.
The activists used fire extinguishers filled with paint. In Munich, the activists are now to be reported for damage to property, in Nuremberg a sprayer was taken to the office. The tree at Sendlinger Tor was then washed down with a water hose.
"Last Generation" sprays Christmas tree in Munich: Further actions in major German cities
In front of the Bundesrat in Berlin, the "Last Generation" colored a large Christmas tree near Potsdamer Platz. Via her X-Account, she provided information about further actions in Leipzig, Rostock, Kiel and Oldenburg.
Photos showed demonstrators holding placards with the inscription "Contemplative into disaster? Charity = Climate Protection". The group said that climate change should not be allowed to degenerate into a marginal issue during the Christmas season. Apparently, the activists do not believe that the UN Climate Change Conference will enable a breakthrough. "Our governments are failing to pull the emergency brake in Dubai," writes the "Last Generation" on X.
