Leipzig – Road blocked, traffic jam. Many drivers know this. But what might be unusual is that suddenly they are standing in front of a tractor and not in front of a glued activist, usually from the "Last Generation".

It started early in the morning, the chaos lasts at least until late afternoon. The farmers' protests are in full swing all over Germany. On Monday (8 January), the farmers' association's week of action started with a bang. Even students didn't make it to class because the roads were blocked.

Such a traffic gridlock has not yet been achieved by the "Last Generation". Is it also because they are being dealt with more harshly than farmers?

At least that's what the "Fridays for Future" group from Leipzig hints at through the flower. Of course, there is no evidence for the implied accusation. The activists are reacting to a post by the city of Leipzig, which announced on X (Twitter) that many motorway ramps will be closed due to registered gatherings. And that from 5 a.m. to 17 p.m.
"It's very good how the city of Leipzig is strengthening the right of assembly," says "Fridays for Future" happily, adding a "If that's the case" announcement: "We're registering twenty assemblies on Leipzig's access roads for the week after next."
