A newborn baby was found this evening inside a garbage bin in Villanova Canavese (Turin). A 49-year-old worker was attracted by moans coming from the dumpster, near his home. When he got closer, he noticed a plastic bag, inside which was the baby, with the placenta and umbilical cord still attached.

The 118 health workers and the carabinieri immediately intervened on the spot and assisted the newborn and transported him to the hospital in Ciriè.

According to investigative sources, the child is fine. The Carabinieri are investigating the matter.

The baby, a boy, was found shortly before 20 p.m. in an alley not far from the center and the man who heard her crying immediately called for help.

The carabinieri of the radiomobile operational unit, who rushed to the scene, have not identified obvious surveillance systems in the area and are trying to reconstruct what happened.

Villanova Canavese is a town with over a thousand inhabitants less than thirty kilometers north of Turin, towards the Lanzo Valleys.
