LE FIGARO. – In farmers' demonstrations, we can read on certain signs “no to unfair competition” or even “we are prohibited from producing what we import”. Are free trade agreements really that asymmetrical? Are they harming French agriculture?

No serious impact study has been carried out on the consequences of free trade treaties for the agricultural sector.
There have been attempts at Ceta with Canada, but it would require extensive academic work, particularly in the meat sector, an area which poses by far the most problems.
French and European farmers feel harmed by unfair competition due to the fact that foreign farmers use phytosanitary products...
