Special correspondent to Jacumba Hot Springs (California)
The roar of an engine racing along the track announces the imminent arrival of a vehicle on the Mexican side of the border, near the Californian desert hamlet of Jacumba Hot Springs, located 115 kilometers east of San Diego.
Visible between the rust-colored steel pillars that make up the “wall” topped with barbed wire, the vehicle is falling.
Ten people emerge, through the doors and the trunk, including two small children.
The driver, masked, asks them to line up to take their photo.
Then he shows them the passage that will allow them to go to the other side.
The terrain is mountainous.
