Who will be in the executive chair in 2026?
In any case, there will be a change in the town hall.

Mayor Andreas Magg (SPD) wants to become district administrator in 2026.
So after almost 20 years there is a change in the town hall.
But who could succeed Magg?
At least one has already been ruled out.
Olching - Actually, it's not yet time to think about who will move into the Olching town hall in the 2026 local elections.
However, there is one special feature: it is already clear, more than two years in advance, that there will be a change after almost 20 years.
The incumbent mayor Andreas Magg (SPD), who has been in office since 2008, has announced that he will no longer be available because he is running as a candidate for district administrator (as reported).
Early point in time
The matter itself did not come as a surprise to everyone.
“However, it’s early,” says Deputy Mayor Maximilian Gigl (CSU), who lost to Magg in the runoff election in 2020.
At that time, he got 42.9 percent against an incumbent who won 57.1 percent, which was considered a success.
So will Gigl compete again?
The CSU city council does not want to be pinned down on anything specific yet.
That depends on a few factors anyway.
The party must first nominate a candidate.
Gigl does not expect this to happen until the beginning of 2025 at the earliest.
Everything else doesn't make sense.
And: “There doesn’t have to be a two-year election campaign.”
From time to time
He is not alone with this opinion.
Ingrid Jaschke, third mayor (Greens), also doesn't want to be rushed.
So far there is no candidate in store for the office of mayor.
“I don’t see any time pressure yet.” The question comes up from time to time in the group.
The search is being carried out in coordination with the local association.
Jaschke sees the change in town hall as an opportunity after three terms in office.
“For work in the city council, a door could open up away from rigid alliances and towards cross-party collaboration,” says Jaschke.
True will
Ewald Zachmann (FO) even says that there were rumors that Magg was tired of his duties.
He says clearly: “Olching has the chance of a new beginning and the implementation of the true will of the citizens.” Olching has its own timetable when it comes to the selection of candidates, and this will not be disturbed by Magg’s “early start at the district level”.

The SPD is already busy looking for a replacement candidate, as parliamentary group leader Ralf Greim reports.
Apparently several people are possible, but nothing has been decided yet.
They have come to terms with Magg's decision.
“But it’s a loss for Olching.”
At least one person will definitely not be in the race: FDP city councilor Harald Rohne, who recently took Andreas Teichmann's place, who ran in 2020.
“Behind a candidacy there should be a serious thought about carrying out the office and that is not part of my life plan.”
