Unusual flight mishap: In Brazil, bees attached themselves to the wing of a plane, trapping the passengers on board.
Natal — Passengers on a Brazilian airliner were stranded on the runway for over an hour on Monday (January 22) because a swarm of bees covered the plane's wing.
The plane landed at Natal Airport in northeastern Brazil shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Shortly before the passengers could get out, they suddenly heard a loud buzzing and were shown back to their seats by board members: a huge swarm of bees had infested the plane.
Prevented from getting off the plane: masses of bees delay passengers
“They started buzzing around the entire plane,” passenger Everton César told local media.
Videos show that there were masses of bees.
The pilot called the fire department to have the swarm removed.
“It took some time for them to arrive, assess the situation and figure out what to do,” César said.
He also explained that passengers became restless because they were trapped on board.

The fire department eventually used an unknown substance that removed the insects from the wing.

After being trapped on the plane for about 90 minutes, the passengers were finally able to exit the plane around 2 p.m.
The machine was then inspected, but was not damaged by the infestation.
Just recently there was trouble at an airport in Brazil: the ground staff had a mishap that was almost fatal.
