The idyllic natural outdoor swimming pool in Bichl is very popular with visitors.

In order to maintain operations as before, a new employee is being sought.

The community of Bichl has a number of topics to work on this year, some of which are important decisions for village life.

We are also looking for a new employee for the natural outdoor pool.

The community hopes to find someone soon.

Bichl – If Bichl Mayor Benedikt Pössenbacher had one wish, an employee who would be responsible for taking care of the natural outdoor pool would be at the top of the list.

This position is currently vacant after the previous employee left the administrative community (VG).

“It would be very nice if a successor was found soon so that we can go into the summer season with a good feeling,” says Pössenbacher.

The prerequisite is that the person has a lifeguard badge.

Until now, the employee had to work in the swimming pool in the summer and in the construction yard in the winter.

“It would be ideal if it could happen like that again, but we are also open to other full- or part-time models,” says the mayor.

In the natural outdoor pool, it is important to also take care of the technology and the kiosk operation.

“We would also take someone who only wants to take care of the outdoor pool in the summer,” says Pössenbacher.

Containers for refugees are being planned

The mayor and the local councils have several projects on the agenda for 2024.

One of these is the planned refugee accommodation on Alten Tölzer Straße.

As reported, containers will be set up there that can accommodate 50 people.

“There is no building permit yet, the district office has still requested documents,” says Pössenbacher.

He assumes that Bichl refugees will be assigned this year - he cannot say when and how many.

Planning for the new elevated tank is also in progress.

It will be built right next to the old one.

“The property conditions have already been clarified,” says the mayor.

The municipality expects an investment of 1.5 million euros.

The submission plan is to be presented at the meeting in February.

“Then we’ll see if we can start construction in the fall.”

Road expansion and new parking spaces at the train station

In the area of road construction, Ludlmühlstrasse will be partially widened and in this context the connecting route between Benediktenwandstrasse and Ludlmühlstrasse will also be widened.

The community actually wanted to do this in 2023, but it didn't happen because of the hailstorm.

There is also news from the train station: The community acquired land there in 2023 to prepare the parking spaces.

That should happen this year.

Pössenbacher is expecting 15 to 20 parking areas, which will then be “cleanly prepared,” and he is looking forward to it.

When it comes to the energy transition, the community would like to continue with municipal heat planning.

This has already been decided by the local council.

But because the federal government has now frozen funding due to budget problems, Pössenbacher doesn't know when things can continue.

Is the railway making progress this year?

The development of the two railway “hot spots” is also not in the hands of the municipality.

The long-planned pedestrian and cycle path crossing at Bühel could be realized in 2024 - if you believe the railway's most recent statement from summer 2023.

“At least since then, I haven’t heard anything different,” says Pössenbacher.

And on the B11, as reported, an estate administrator has to clarify details for the property matter.

“It would be nice if we could complete it this year,” says the town hall boss.

What will become of the administrative community?

And then the Bichler municipal council could also discuss this year whether the next mayor, who will be elected in 2026, should work full-time.

When asked about this, Pössenbacher said: “The local council has to decide that.” In any case, he will not run again in 2026.

Bichl now meets the criteria with a population of over 2,000 citizens.

However, economic viability must also be present.

As reported, considerations had recently been raised about breaking away from the administrative community with Benediktbeuern.

At the moment it has become quiet on this topic.

Pössenbacher does not assume “that a decision on this will be made during my term of office”.
