Auto supplier Bosch recently announced that it would have to cut jobs in diesel production.
Now it is also affecting the software sector.
Stuttgart - Shortly before the turn of the year, the technology group Bosch announced that it would have to cut around 1,500 jobs at two locations in Baden-Württemberg.
This particularly affects areas in diesel production.
As the
Handelsblatt
currently reports, jobs are also being cut in future fields.
Specifically, the world's largest auto supplier plans to cut
1,200 jobs
in
software development
by 2026 , including 950 in Germany.
According to the report, the announced job cuts at
Bosch
largely affect locations in Baden-Württemberg, namely
Abstatt
(Heilbronn district),
Leonberg
,
Renningen
(both Böblingen district),
Schwieberdingen
(Ludwigsburg district) and the plant in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony.
The Stuttgart-based global company cites the unexpectedly slow development in the area of autonomous driving as the reason for the cost-cutting measures.
Job cuts at Bosch should be carried out in a socially responsible manner
After long negotiations, Bosch and IG Metall agreed on protection against dismissal for the German Mobility locations in 2023.
Redundancies for operational reasons are therefore ruled out until 2027, meaning that job cuts in the software sector must be implemented in a socially responsible manner.
Corresponding notifications have already been sent to the workforce, reports the
Handelsblatt
.
Bosch now wants to start talks with employee representatives.

In the past , Bosch boss Stefan Hartung
had made no secret of the fact that
Transformation to e-mobility will be accompanied by a
reduction in staff numbers
.
The “end of the combustion engine” will lead to staff savings, the CEO recently explained.
It is surprising that the world's largest automotive supplier also wants to massively cut jobs in the software sector by 2026.
Hartung had stated that he hoped to be able to continue hiring in future areas.
