The CDU Baden-Württemberg is calling for the ban on combustion engines to be reconsidered.
Transport Minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) opposes this.
Stuttgart - The discussion about the future of the internal combustion engine in Germany is gaining momentum.
Winfried Hermann, Transport Minister of Baden-Württemberg, has firmly opposed the CDU's proposal to reconsider the EU's plans to abolish the internal combustion engine.
CDU state leader Manuel Hagel had previously made such a suggestion after a closed meeting and spoke out in favor of synthetic fuels.
At BW24 you can read why Transport Minister Hermann rejects the CDU proposal and why the CDU on the other side is calling for one.
Last year, after long negotiations, the EU states agreed to phase out combustion engines by 2035.
However, there should be exceptions for synthetic fuels, which the automotive suppliers from Baden-Württemberg also welcomed.
