It's not just clown costumes that are a hit at carnival.

Carnival is short this year – and therefore in full swing.
Balls are being celebrated and carnival parades are taking place.
All that remains is to choose the right cladding.
What's trending?
During the survey of carnival clubs in the region, there were some bizarre costume ideas.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – inspiration can be found in Benediktbeuern.
Bernd Schöpf knows that the carnival enthusiasts really go all out there every year.
“People always come up with something new,” says the chairman of “Beira Maschkera”.
Whether painted completely blue as a Smurf or as a two-legged shower cubicle, there are no limits to your imagination.
Full physical effort was required last year, said the chairman.
Trendy at the time: dressing up as a nun or monk.
“A few even shaved their heads bald,” reports Schöpf.
If that's too much for you, you can of course switch to the classic costumes.
According to Schöpf, you can never go wrong with this.
“Something like cowboys and Indians always works.”
More individual costumes in the country than in the city
Michael Gascha, board member of the Lenggries carnival club “Mia san's”, however, thinks that choosing costumes is becoming increasingly difficult for the fools.
“You don’t want to make yourself vulnerable or behave in a politically correct manner,” explains the board.
In contrast to the past, it is now considered disreputable to dress up as an Eskimo or paint your skin black.
“These are topics where you feel like you’re no longer allowed to touch them,” explains Gascha.
He thinks it's a shame that you can't move around as freely as you used to during these crazy times.
Nevertheless, the people of Lenggries come up with unusual costumes every year.
In general, Carnival is “celebrated very differently in the country” than in the city, according to the board.
Instead of ordering from the catalog, unique costumes that have been put together with a lot of love can often be seen at the balls.
“That’s why I’m really looking forward to this season,” says Gascha.
Face masks are also a hit
In the past, it was popular for women to dress up as devils.
The minimalists among carnival lovers, on the other hand, often only wear a face mask instead of wearing a full costume, says Gascha.
Also becoming increasingly popular: group costumes.
“Then suddenly several Christmas trees float through the hall.” A common costume not only attracts attention, but also strengthens the feeling of togetherness.
Gladly as a group disguise
Sebastian Bauer, board member of the Bichler Maschkera Association, also particularly remembers a group disguise from the past few years.
Several men had dressed up as mountaineers and tied them together with a rope.
Going to the toilet was therefore challenging.
Bichlers who particularly enjoy carnival spend weeks preparing and have the right costume for every ball, according to the board.
To make the disguise perfect, the make-up should of course not be missing.
“Sometimes you don’t even recognize the people anymore,” says the club chairman.
He expects that this year many will be dressed according to the themes of the carnival clubs.
In Benediktbeuern the motto is jungle animals; in Bichl the focus is on the pantheon of Mount Olympus.
“A lot can be done with it,” Bauer is certain.
