Kühtai - The 28-year-old German was on a ski trip in the Austrian Tyrol with her partner and his friend when the accident happened.
At around 9 a.m. they set off by bus from Innsbruck to Kühtai.
Their goal was the 2,820 meter high Gaiskogel.
From there they wanted to ski down on freeride skis, reports, among others,

It is now clear: like her boyfriend, the deceased woman came from Bavaria and lived in Innsbruck.
Young woman from Germany dies in avalanche in Austria/Tyrol
The group reached the summit at around 11:20.
But the weather conditions on the mountain were their downfall: the young woman lost a ski.
The strong wind then carried it meters away.
Her partner initially drove off to collect it again when he was surprised by an avalanche and rolled over several times.
He was dragged 20 to 30 meters.
According to police, the mutual friend then went to look for him.
The 28-year-old stayed where she was.
Suddenly more snow masses came loose and buried the young woman.
Only the mountain rescue team was able to free her, but they could only determine that she was dead.
Attempts at resuscitation were negative.
The two men remained uninjured and were rescued by the emergency helicopter.
Winter accidents in Austria are increasing
Another avalanche disaster shook Vorarlberg in Austria: On Saturday (January 27th), a 54-year-old man was buried and killed by the masses of snow while on a ski tour.
According to the police, he had gone on a trip to the snow bell in the Silvretta area.
When the snow cover suddenly broke, the man fell around 400 meters through rocky terrain.

In the Gemeindealpe ski area, near Mitterbach on Lake Erlauf, a 57-year-old had a fatal accident on Saturday morning (January 27th).
The skier left the slope for an unknown reason and crashed into a tree.
As the Lower Austria State Police Department announced, she also died on site from her injuries.
Just recently, a 16-year-old from Germany was caught in an avalanche in front of his brother in Austria.
However, a search operation for someone buried in snow in the Alps was called off.
