Großweil – The community is “going well,” said District Administrator Anton Speer (Free Voters) at the Großweiler citizens’ meeting in the leisure center last week.

The community is investing in the future with a kindergarten expansion, but also with the acquisition of the Gasthof zur Loisach.

And the commitment is apparently working quite well in Großweil.

Here “we will be helped,” said the district administrator and paid respect.

Mayor Frank Bauer (Free Voters) also highlighted the volunteer work, but also the challenges that the community faces.

It is “nice how much support we receive,” explained Frank Bauer.

Support that you can see at Ramadama, swimming pool cleaning or student guides.

At the same time, the mayor thanked the local council for constructive thoughts and “not getting tired”.

But getting tired would also be unfavorable.

Because Großweil has to fulfill some mandatory tasks.

After District Administrator Anton Speer discussed various district topics such as asylum policy, district budget, wolves and beavers, schools and digitalization, Bauer devoted himself to completed, ongoing and upcoming projects in Großweil.

In 2023, among other things, the mechanical technology of the drinking water plant was renovated.

Now it's the turn of electrical engineering.

The development plan for the Rolf-Küch-Straße/Am Tagebau building area expansion is “on the home stretch” and the tender for the properties is scheduled to take place in the second half of the year.

This year the community is getting a new club barn, a teaching and future garden and a kindergarten expansion.

As things stand, the kindergarten expansion will be able to stay below the planned costs of 2.4 million euros, says Bauer.

The community cannot avoid the million-dollar investment: in 2023, Großweil had 18 births.

In contrast, there were 15 deaths.

In 2024, five children had already been born by the time of the citizens' meeting.

“It continues,” said Bauer, referring to the birth rate in the community, where around 1,600 people have their main residence.

123 children currently attend the primary school.

By 2028 there will probably be more than 170.

In view of major mandatory tasks such as creating care places and securing the drinking water supply, the Gasthof zur Loisach has to wait.

“We’re staying on the ball,” says Bauer.

The village heating system is – and must be – taken off the table.

This “has given us a lot of headaches over the last few weeks,” revealed the town hall boss and allowed Andreas Scharli from Energiewende Oberland to take the lectern.

He announced that village heating could not be implemented in the planned version.

All variants have been played through.

That was “bitter” and made him “incredibly sorry,” but it wasn’t because there weren’t enough people involved.

That was not the case.

“A lot of it depends on the current interest rates,” stated Scharli.

A news that the local council noted “with great regret,” said Bauer.

According to treasurer Christoph Gratz, the years 2024 and 2025 will not be bitter, but rather “big as hell”. Recent high trade tax revenues mean high tax capacity and thus a lower key allocation.

The result: you will have to bake smaller rolls.

Regarding the 2023 budget: At the beginning of the year, Gratz said, “we did a pretty poor job,” but things would then have “worked out quite well.”

Around 980,000 euros were allocated to the asset budget.

An outlier to the top.

This year the main problem will be the expenditure side.

The municipality will probably have to expect additional expenses of 800,000 euros.

The district levy alone will add 285,000 euros if it actually ends up at 56 points.
