The crime was recorded this Sunday afternoon, after 6:30 p.m., when residents of the Tabacalero neighborhood of the city of Salta, located 58 kilometers from the provincial capital, alerted 911 that there was a "seriously injured" woman in the vicinity of a home
. under construction
: the body was found in a vacant lot.
After the call, police personnel and an ambulance approached the reported address and confirmed the death of a young woman
identified as Julieta Siles
.
Initially, the doctors who treated the victim indicated that he had
stab wounds
and cranial brain trauma, the result of a
strong blow to the head
.
In this context, the criminal prosecutor Gabriel González, from the Femicide Unit, intervened in the investigation, who coordinated the rigorous tasks of the Fiscal Investigation Corps and the Serious Attacks Against Persons Unit (UGAP).

Meanwhile, Siles' body was transferred to the Forensic Thanatology Service of the Fiscal Investigation Corps (CIF) to perform
the autopsy

Judicial spokespersons confirmed that a man was arrested on suspicion of having participated in the young woman's crime, although investigators did not rule out the intervention of other people.

Alarming numbers of femicides in Salta and the country
If proven, this would be the
second femicide recorded in Salta so far in 2024
, after Laura Díaz (64) was stabbed to death on January 17 in the town of Metán.
This crime occurred in a home in the city located 154 kilometers south of the city of Salta, where the 64-year-old woman was injured with a knife in the abdominal area.
There, she stopped a 72-year-old man with whom the woman was in a relationship.
According to official figures released by the Télam Agency during January, there were at least
22 femicides throughout the country: one crime every 31 hours
.
According to the report made by the news agency, crimes were recorded in the province of Buenos Aires (5), Santa Fe (5), Chaco (3), Misiones (2), Salta (2), Chubut (1), Córdoba (1), Mendoza (1), San Luis (1) and La Rioja (1), and in 59 percent of the cases (13) the murderer was the victim's partner or ex-partner.
