Israel apparently wants to file a genocide lawsuit against Iran in court.
That could aggravate the already tense relationship.
Tel Aviv – Israel wants to file a genocide lawsuit against Iran at the International Court of Justice.
Former Israel Justice Minister Gideon Sa'ar highlighted that the Iranian leadership would provide significant support to Hamas and other Gaza-based terrorist groups responsible for the October 7, 2023 attacks.
He has spoken to National Security Advisor Zachi Ha-Negbi about the issue and wants to advocate for such a lawsuit to be filed.

Iran funds, arms and trains terrorist organizations, including Hamas, which carried out the October 7 attacks.
According to Sa'ar, there is a wealth of evidence that can be presented to the court in The Hague.

“Israel is a small and persecuted nation fighting for its life while fighting for its right to self-defense on the international stage.
It is a nation that is truly at risk of genocide because it is surrounded by enemies who want to destroy it,” he stressed.
Israel apparently wants to sue Iran - Tehran's role in the Israel war is controversial
In recent months there have been increasing reports about Iran's role in the Israel War.
Among other things, it was said that Iran and supported militias had already drawn up concrete plans for a war against Israel.
General Esmail Ghaani, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's notorious Quds Force, was apparently working on a common coordination scheme for all pro-Iranian militias during the year.
He also made several trips to Lebanon, where he held secret meetings with Hamas and Hezbollah, a Shiite militia that also has a presence in Iraq and Pakistan.

Since the war in Israel, tensions between the two countries have increased.
Iran threatened Israel with retaliation and attributed an airstrike to Israel that apparently killed five members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).
The Iranian government has also repeatedly stated that it supports Palestinian society in the Israel war.
Genocide trial against Israel: First court decision in The Hague
After the first court decision in the genocide case against Israel, Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian congratulated the Palestinian people on their “success,” as the state news agency

reported.
On Friday (January 26), the United Nations Supreme Court called for a series of measures to prevent genocide in a first decision following South Africa's genocide lawsuit against Israel.
However, the court did not order an end to the military operation in the Gaza Strip.
