Highlights: Junts expels Cristina Casol from the parliamentary group after not giving credibility to her harassment accusations. The decision widens the internal fracture that exists in Junts, with a rivalry between Jordi Turull, general secretary, and Laura Borràs, president of the party. The deputy had advanced in recent days that she has no intention of handing over the minutes and that, in any case, she will join the mixed group. All of this after the report from the Parliament's Equality Office concluded that there were no proven facts - literally - in Casol's harassment complaint.

Junts per Catalunya has agreed to expel from the parliamentary group Cristina Casol, the deputy who reported having suffered “gender harassment” from her own party colleagues.

The disciplinary measure taken by the Junts management comes after the Parliament's Equality Office decided not to have found “any proven fact” to give credibility to Casol's story.

The decision widens the internal fracture that exists in Junts, with a rivalry between Jordi Turull, general secretary, and Laura Borràs, president of the party.

Casol, who was number 2 for Lleida in the last parliamentary elections, is close to Laura Borràs.

The president, sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison for cutting up public contracts, has been losing support and is trying to resist in a minority situation.

After the expulsion decreed at this Monday's meeting, the Junts management leaves the execution of the dismissal in the hands of the parliamentary group.

The decision was made after Casol refused to hand over her report following the report from the Parliament's Equality Office, which ruled out that she had suffered gender-based harassment, as she had reported.

The deputy had advanced in recent days that she has no intention of handing over the minutes and that, in any case, she will join the mixed group.

At the Junts executive meeting, the possibility of expelling her was voted on and, in a “majority” way, the option of those who defended making the decision has won.

All of this after the report from the Parliament's Equality Office concluded that there were no proven facts - literally - in Casol's harassment complaint, but it did describe an environment of tension and work "where cultural machismo is ingrained."

The Junts deputy and second secretary of the Parliament Board, Aurora Madaula, also made a complaint at the end of November similar to the one filed by Casol.

In a public event in Parliament, Madaula took the floor to denounce having been a victim of “silent violence” by her party colleagues.

Madaula, like Casol, is part of the circle of trust of the president of the formation, Laura Borràs.
