The events occurred in the Cité des Oliviers, located in the 13th arrondissement of the city and known for harboring extensive drug trafficking.
According to a police source, police officers were needed in the city by the Marseille firefighters, the soldiers having been called to intervene with several people suffering from stab wounds.
Arriving on site, the police discovered that three men were suffering from several wounds to the chest and throat.
Two of them were found at the entrance to the city and were evacuated to Timone hospital.
The third was located next to an association premises and was taken to North Hospital.

The police then went to meet a witness to the incident who presented himself as the brother of one of the victims.
According to his account of the facts, he and the victims were attacked by a group of individuals identified as lookouts and dealers from a deal point in the city, while they were trying to move into a building with their car. .
A lookout would have prevented the small group from continuing on their way with their belongings.
One of the victims then went down to remove the barricades that blocked the way, triggering a verbal argument with several protagonists gathered around the scene.
A brawl eventually broke out, during which the victims were lynched and seriously injured with knives.
As the circumstances of this attack are still unclear, it is still difficult at this stage to determine whether the third injured person was part of the group wishing to move in or the gang identified as drug dealers.
