A fall with serious consequences.
A 38-year-old woman reportedly fell into the Saint-Denis canal, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, on Sunday evening around 6:50 p.m.
The latter was transported in critical condition to Necker hospital and her vital prognosis is “very poor”, indicates a police source.
The victim would have fallen alone into the watercourse, specifies the same source.
Video surveillance cameras made it possible to determine more precisely the circumstances in which the accident took place.
Several passers-by would have witnessed the fall live and would have come to the aid of the thirty-year-old.
After managing “with difficulty” to get her out of the water, they allegedly provided a cardiac massage to the victim who was then in cardiorespiratory arrest.
The vital prognosis of the victim involved
During this time, witnesses would have alerted a police patrol from Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis) who was near the scene at the time of the events.
Arriving alongside the victim around 7:15 p.m., the officers immediately took over the cardiac massage while waiting for help to arrive.
The Paris police officers were simultaneously notified of the incident by the Saint-Denis police station and arrived at the scene of the accident a few minutes later, closely followed by the firefighters and the Samu who took charge of the victim, restarting the victim's heart.
Just a few months ago, in May, the lifeless body of a man was recovered from the Ourcq canal.
Even more recently, this same month of January, the body of a young man was brought up from the Saint-Denis canal.
This new accident once again raises the question of safety around the canals in northern Paris.
