Sória/Spain – Just a few days ago, the onset of winter in Germany caused a kilometer-long traffic jam on the motorway, and now a similar incident occurred in otherwise warm Spain.
Hundreds of travelers were stranded with their vehicles in a kilometer-long traffic jam on Friday, and the onset of snowfall and icy cold caused the army to be deployed shortly afterwards.
An airport also had to briefly stop operations due to the winter conditions.

The winter incident occurred on the N-122 highway between the cities of Sória and Ágreda in northern Spain.
Around 500 vehicles, including many long-distance trucks, were stuck on the highway on Friday evening due to heavy snowfall and bitter cold.
This was reported by the state TV broadcaster RTVE, among others.
Accordingly, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, temperatures at higher altitudes are currently falling to below minus ten degrees at night.
In order to bring the hundreds of stranded travelers to safety, the military was quickly mobilized.
Just a few days ago, Spain made headlines with a drastic Corona measure, and in many places tourists will now have to put on a mask again.

Onset of winter in Spain: Big city has to close airport runway without further ado
In the city of Zaragoza, a little further southeast, the airport had to be temporarily closed due to snow on the runway.
In other regions of Spain, traffic was also disrupted by snow and ice or, as in the autonomous community of Extremadura in the southwest of the country, by heavy rain.
Winter continues to affect many regions in Germany.
And in Austria it has also been snowing regularly in numerous regions for weeks.
But the residents of Lake Achensee in Tyrol are annoyed.
German holidaymakers on their way to the Zillertal use the road through their villages as a toll-free alternative route.
