The Chairman of the Constitutional Committee, MK Simcha Rotman, was ordered to pay NIS 2,000 in court costs to News 12 commentator Guy Peleg, News 13 journalist Shlomi Elder, attorney Dan Adin, and other defendants against whom he filed a libel suit for Peleg's publication, according to which Rotman said in a closed hearing In the Knesset that "the blood of the Hillel Weigel Yaniv brothers who were murdered in Hvara will be redder than the blood of those murdered on 7.10", Rothman, we will recall, vehemently denies that such a sentence was uttered.
The reason why Rothman was ordered to pay is mainly technical, due to the fact that he did not produce the statement of claim to the defendants and was based for having seen it in the media. One of the defendants, attorney Dan Adin, said: "I saw the indictment in your Telegram (BA) to this day I have not received it by mail or by other means that the regulations require."
Brief background:
About a month after the massacre in 710 Rothman filed a lawsuit against Peleg and the company's CEO Avi Weiss.
According to Peleg's report, Rotman accused the Shin Bet representatives and the Ministry of Justice for not heeding requests to fight incitement against settlers - and uttered a terrible rant, according to which "the blood of the Hillel Weigal Yaniv brothers who were murdered in Hawara is redder than the blood of those murdered on October 7."

In the statement of claim it was stated that "...the reporter Guy Peleg contacted the plaintiff to get his response before the publication and the plaintiff told him explicitly and unequivocally that the statements were false and that the one whose name was quoted did not exist and was not created."
The indictment is also aimed at the social media activists Itai Vared, Shlomi Alder, Dan Adin and Ran Har Nevo, who, according to him, "published a series of tweets echoing the quote for tens of thousands of followers."
Rothman demands the removal of all publications regarding the "false quote" and the publication of an apology on behalf of each of them along with the payment of compensation in the total amount of NIS 1,091,300.
Rothman stated in the lawsuit that "any amount awarded by the court for this lawsuit will be transferred directly to the settlements and residents of Otaf Israel in the south who were affected and evacuated from their homes following the brutal terrorist attack on the seventh of October."
