Deputy Budget Commissioner for Macro and Budget, Itay Temkin, today informed the Budget Commissioner of the termination of his position.

Temkin ends a long term in which he held the most significant positions in the budget department.

As part of his role, in the last decade Temkin led the procedures for building and approving the budget, including the formulation of the budget frameworks that led to a significant and constant improvement in the government's fiscal strength and enabled it to deal with the economic crises that have befallen the economy in recent years.

Alongside this, Temkin led and coordinated the enactment of the "Numerator" law which dramatically improved the government's planning ability in the medium term and was praised by all rating companies and international organizations.

In his role as deputy commissioner, the teams under his leadership promoted a large number of significant structural reforms such as: canceling the designated bonds, raising the retirement age for women, open banking, opening the payments market in Israel to competition, completing the separation of the credit card companies from the banks and canceling the managers' insurance.

Recently, Temkin led the adjustment plan approved by the government in order to deal with the budgetary consequences of the "Iron Swords" war.

In addition to his other duties, Temkin is responsible for the budget department's relationship with the credit rating companies as well as for leading the negotiations with the Histadrut regarding the various wage agreements.

Temkin, who holds a bachelor's and master's degree in economics with honors from Ben Gurion University, is expected to finish his post after the enactment of the state budget for 2024 in the Knesset.

Temkin thanked Budget Commissioner Yogev Gardos and the department's employees for the many years of joint work and for the privilege of being part of the cutting edge of the public service and taking a significant and influential part in shaping the Israeli economy.

Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich: "Iti Temkin is one of the most talented people in the Ministry of Finance and in the public service in Israel in general. It was a pleasure to work with him in all my years as a member of the Finance Committee, and in the last year as Minister of Finance. A hard-working, sharp and goal-oriented man who contributed greatly to the State of Israel and the Israeli economy. I We thank him on behalf of the government, wish him great success in the future in the private market, and wish for ourselves to see him again in the future contributing his abilities to the public service in the State of Israel.

I believe that positions in the private sector in a way that provides additional perspectives to those acquired in the public sector are important and critical for those in senior positions, which is why I congratulated Itay this morning for his decision to do so."
