The reality of
Javier Pastore
is different from what anyone imagined. It is that the talented midfielder, 34 years old and with an important past in the
Argentine National Team
,
could be close to retirement
due to a bothersome injury to his hip that would force him to go through the operating room and being off the field for a long time.
Physical ailments, which even prevent him from carrying out daily activities, were a factor that in recent seasons did not allow Flaco
to
stand out in the way he would have liked.
"Honestly,
I do it (operate) to have a better life and not have more pain
," admitted the footballer who emerged from Talleres - and who shone in that memorable Huracán by Ángel Cappa - in an interview with
Prime Video Sport France
in which he left open the possibility of putting an end to his career as a footballer.
And to delve deeper into the hard moment he has to go through, he added: "
I feel pain every day. Also in normal life. I have to stop this, it's not pleasant
."
In this way, Pastore's return to the fields has no date nor is it confirmed.
He has been without a club since July 2023
, after a brief stint of one semester in
Qatar SC
, in the Arab country's league, where he only played eight games.
A reality that collides head-on with the versions that spoke, a few days ago, of Boca
's supposed interest
in adding him to the ranks of the team led by
Diego Martínez
.
Pastore, on the day of his presentation at Qatar SC, where he did not have the step he imagined.
Beyond the recovery he will have to undergo after a new operation, Pastore can no longer imagine stepping on a professional court again.
"
This summer I will have to see how I feel, if I can continue playing or not. I will make a decision, for the moment I am on
stand-by
," he expressed.
"
It would be a miracle if I returned, returning to football would be a true miracle . It's already gone a little from my mind but you never know," said the midfielder who played in the 2010 World Cup and the
2011
,
2015
and
2016
Americas Cups.
with the Argentine National Team.

What can motivate
Flaco
to continue with his career would be to put an end to it in the way he always dreamed of: returning to Talleres de Córdoba, a club of which he is a confessed fan.
"
One always dreamed of retiring in Talleres
, it's what I always dreamed of as a child. Time will tell, but my desire is always there," he had admitted years ago.
Although his future is unknown, the physical discomfort is not something striking for the player who had an outstanding seven-year stint with Paris Saint Germain after an explosive landing in the Old Continent defending the colors of Palermo of Italy.
The fact is that injuries did not allow Flaco to achieve a high level of performance:
in the last three and a half years he played only 29 games
with the Roma, Elche and Qatar SC shirts.

While he left his future in doubt, his fans found the perfect situation to spoil Pastore.
It happened on Sunday following a publication that the French league made on its social networks about a very nice goal by the midfielder during his time at PSG.
Immediately, the post went viral and was filled with laudatory comments.
"Flaco I love you more than my old lady", "Go back to Talleres Flaco", "Big Flaco", were some of the gestures of affection that the player received, while he seriously analyzes whether he will put on his boots again.
