The Udine City Council has rejected the proposal to grant citizenship to AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who was offended with racist insults during the match against Udinese in Friuli on 20 January.

To pass the proposal, the votes of the majority alone were not sufficient but three-quarters of the votes of the councilors were needed.

The centre-right minority instead voted unanimously against the proposal of mayor Alberto Felice De Toni, head of a centre-left administration.
