The fire departments in the district recorded a disproportionate increase in technical assistance in 2023.

Not all missions were really necessary.

District

- Over 2,200 missions and therefore 244 more than in the previous year, new alarm technology and training requirements as well as the election of a new district fire council: The commanders' service meeting of the heads of the volunteer fire brigades and factory fire brigades in the Miesbach im Schlierseer district was exciting when looking back on 2023 and looking ahead to 2024 Peasant theater.

Because the outgoing district fire councilor Anton Riblinger was ill, district fire inspector Andreas Schwabenbauer read out the report on all activities in 2023. It covered meetings and conferences, meetings and tours, exercises and acceptance of fire alarm systems as well as vehicle inaugurations, honors and state receptions.

But also of the farewells to comrades like the three young Florians' disciples who lost their lives in an industrial accident in Weyarn on July 25th.

The commanders and their guests, District Administrator Olaf von Löwis, Schliersee Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer, representatives of the Rosenheim control center, the police, criminal police, the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and disaster control employees remembered them in a minute's silence.

Schwabenbauer introduced the new commanders in Hausham, Holzkirchen, Hartpenning, Irschenberg and Kreuth as well as those re-elected in Agatharied and Gmund and identified a generational change.

The 2023 annual statistics of all 36 volunteer fire departments and the Louisenthal factory fire department showed a total of 1992 active men and women - 53 fewer than in 2022 -, 45 fire houses and 164 vehicles.

Disproportionate increase in technical assistance

Looking at the total of 2,207 missions and the disproportionate increase in technical assistance from 1,105 (2022) to 1,431 (2023), Schwabenbauer stated: “It is a general trend that the burden on volunteers is increasing.

But the fire brigades are often called to tasks that citizens could do themselves. For example, clearing a branch from the street after a storm or cleaning water that is just a centimeter high from the basement.

Schwabenbauer promoted “help for self-help” and also complained about 278 false alarms, which not only included alarm systems that were triggered unnecessarily, but also “malicious false alarms”.

In total, the Floriansjüngers went out to 427 fires in 2023 (105 fewer than in 2022).

256 people were treated and 160 were rescued (37 via fire department ladders).

For example, 37 citizens were found helpless after their apartments were opened, and 47 received primary medical care.

District fire chief Peter Schlickenrieder presented innovations in the training and examination modalities in the youth report, and district fire chief Thomas Gegenfurtner explained in the respiratory protection report that “beard wearers” would no longer be allowed to take part in ABC exercises in the future.

District fire inspector Johann Schüller gave an update on refereeing with a request to the commanders to “intensify training even further”.

Over 47,000 euros are to be invested in training and further education in 2024 - the lion's share of the 58,100 euro budget presented by honorary district fire inspector Karl Limmer.

Thanks and recognition for the performance of the fire departments

District Administrator Olaf von Löwis thanked the fire departments for the “tasks that you carry out for us day and night” and for the “constant readiness” of the Floriansjünger: “We can always rely on you.” Löwis also reported on the ten million euros that the district in the new ten-year plan for disaster protection.

Schnitzenbaumer agreed with the district administrator's praise and emphasized how important it is that fire departments are positioned in society: "Thank God you're not on strike!" said Schnitzenbaumer and expressed incomprehension about the fact that firefighters are insulted while on duty in some places.
