A drone attack on a US outpost in Jordan leaves three people dead.
US Republicans also want to hold those responsible accountable.

US President Biden blamed a pro-Iranian group for the attack and the death of three US soldiers.
“While we are still gathering the facts about this attack, we already know that it was carried out by a radical Iranian-backed militant group operating in Syria and Iraq,” he said in Washington.
Iran denied any connection to the attack.
The accusations were made with the political aim of “reversing the realities in the region,” the state news agency Irna quoted foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani as saying.
The resistance groups in the region received no instructions from Iran, he emphasized.
“They decide their actions based on their own principles.”

According to the White House, three US soldiers were killed in a drone attack by pro-Iranian militias in Jordan near the Syrian border.
A good two dozen other soldiers were injured.
The attack was carried out “by radical, Iran-backed militant groups” operating in Syria and Iraq, US President Joe Biden said on Sunday.
However, they are still in the process of gathering the facts about the attack.
Biden threatened: “Have no doubt – we will hold all those responsible accountable, at a time and in a manner of our choosing.”
According to US media, it is the first time since the start of the Gaza war that US soldiers have been killed by an enemy attack in the Middle East.
Because of the war, which began with the Islamist Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, the security situation in the entire region is tense.
The US has repeatedly emphasized that it fears that the conflict in the Middle East could escalate into a regional war.

Uncertainty about attack on US outpost: threat of escalation in the Gaza conflict
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that US-led alliance forces shot down a drone belonging to pro-Iranian militias near Syria's border with Jordan and Iraq.
They tried to attack the Al-Tanf military base used by US troops.
The Observatory has counted more than 100 attacks on coalition bases in Syria since mid-October.
US forces then occasionally attacked targets of pro-Iranian militias.
It initially remained unclear whether there had been several consecutive attacks on the base on Sunday.
