After the bankruptcy of the KaDeWe department store group with the Hamburg Alsterhaus, the Verdi union is demanding job security and predictable prospects for the department store's employees.
“Management is now in demand,” said the responsible department head in the Verdi district of Hamburg, Heike Lattekamp, to the German Press Agency on Monday.
Hamburg - The KaDeWe Group, which, in addition to the Alsterhaus, includes the luxury department stores KaDeWe in Berlin and Oberpollinger in Munich, filed for self-administration insolvency proceedings on Monday, the company announced.
This variant of insolvency law aims to restructure a company instead of winding it up.
From Verdi's point of view, the chances of preserving the house on Jungfernstieg, which opened in 1912, are good.
“From our point of view, Alsterhaus definitely has a future in this city - and belongs to this city,” said Lattekamp.
“Alsterhaus is a piece of Hamburg.” dpa
