Highlights: Würmtal green corridor network for chimney stop in Schorn. Network concerned about protected forest and groundwater - and is asking the city to abandon the plans in SchORN. The entire area is designated as a landscape protection area, parts of it are designated as protected forest, as are the surrounding forests that are not directly affected. The increasingly important cold air channels for the Munich metropolitan region and the urgent need for action to limit the amount of new sealing (especially outdoors) make this project appear extremely questionable.

The Würmtal green corridor network has called on the Starnberg city council to abandon plans for a commercial area in Schorn on the A 95.

The reasons are varied.

Starnberg/Schorn

– The Würmtal green corridor network (GNW) has appealed to the city and the city council to abandon the commercial area plans for Schorn.

“The entire area is designated as a landscape protection area, parts of it are designated as a protected forest, as are the surrounding forests that are not directly affected.

The increasingly important cold air channels for the Munich metropolitan region and the urgent need for action to limit the amount of new sealing (especially outdoors) make this project appear extremely questionable to us," says a letter to the city council from network chairman Dr.

Herbert Stepp.

In addition, there is the impairment of flora and fauna in the area, which the objection of the Federal Nature Conservation Association points out extensively.

Stepp expressly points out court decisions on planned interventions in the restricted forest, the hurdles are very high.

Too high, Stepp believes, for the city to have a chance of success in a lawsuit against the Schorn industrial estate.

Network sees danger for groundwater

“We are also particularly concerned about the impending threat to groundwater, which flows from this area in a north-easterly direction and meets large water protection areas less than two kilometers away, which primarily supply the municipality of Baierbrunn.

“Any harmful inputs end up in the drinking water supply of neighboring communities directly because they are permeable and have little filtering,” warns the chairman.

According to the network's knowledge, there is a direct connection to large aquifers.

Conclusion: “We appeal to the decision-makers in the city of Starnberg to give priority to the increasingly important nature and environmental protection when considering the Schorn commercial area in the future.” The green corridor network is willing to talk to the city.
