As soon as the train drivers' strike at the railway ended, the next collective bargaining dispute escalated.

This Friday, Verdi wants to stop public transport in order to improve the working conditions of its employees.

Dresden/Magdeburg/Erfurt - The Verdi union has also called for warning strikes in local public transport (ÖPNV) in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

The employees of the local public transport companies in the three countries should stop work all day on Friday, as the union announced on Monday.

In Saxony, the municipal transport companies in Chemnitz, Dresden, Leipzig, Plauen and Zwickau are affected.

In Saxony-Anhalt, employees of transport companies in Dessau, Halle, Magdeburg and the Burgenland district want to go on strike.

In Thuringia in Erfurt, Gera, Jena, Mühlhausen, Nordhausen, Sondershausen, Suhl/Zella-Mehlis, Weimar, the Weimarer Land district and the Saale-Holzland district.

Passengers will once again face significant restrictions this Friday, especially in rush hour traffic.

It was only this Monday that the German Locomotive Drivers' Union (GDL) prematurely ended its multi-day strike at Deutsche Bahn.

In all three countries, the union is negotiating in parallel with the municipal employers' associations about new collective agreements for public transport employees.

No solution was reached in any region during the first round of negotiations.

Negotiations are taking place in all countries at the same time.

In terms of content, however, the demands are very different.

In Saxony, for example, it is about a so-called collective collective agreement.

Above all, it regulates the working conditions for employees.

Verdi is calling for, among other things, an increase in vacation entitlement, the introduction of time bonuses for Saturday work or overtime bonuses.

Things are more complicated in Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

This is also about remuneration, i.e. higher wages and salaries.

In Saxony-Anhalt, Verdi wants an increase in table fees by 550 euros per month and an increase in training fees by 250 euros per month.

In Thuringia, table fees are to be increased by 650 euros per month - combined with the possibility of converting the wage increase into a reduction in working hours or additional regeneration days.

An increase in wages of 250 euros per month is required for trainees.

The term of the collective wage agreements in Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia should be twelve months.

Accordingly, the term of the collective collective agreements is 24 months.
