It is a somewhat frozen situation which is emerging for the coming days.

This week, France should experience roughly equivalent weather from one day to the next due to an anticyclone which will station above the territory.

Overall, temperatures should continue to remain above seasonal averages.

The sun should be more and more present towards the south of the country while the north of France will generally be under the clouds, according to forecasts from Météo France.

Clouds while an anticyclone is present: this situation may seem counterintuitive.

However, it is classic in the cold season.

When an anticyclone sets in and the wind is light, moisture accumulates near the ground.

The sun is not powerful enough to dissipate it and a sort of gray layer stagnates for a long time.

The other consequence is the phenomenon of thermal inversion.

Because of the cloud close to the ground, the sun heats up less than if the rays reached the ground.

It is then common for it to be warmer at altitude, above the clouds, than in the plains.

Here too it is a counter-intuitive phenomenon, because the temperature generally decreases by 0.5C to 1°C for every 100 m of altitude gained.

But this situation is also quite classic during the cold season.

It can also occur when a warm wind reaches heights but does not reach landlocked areas on the ground.

MONDAY

It should be one of the most beautiful days of the week.

The sun should be present almost everywhere with the exception of an axis going from Normandy to Gironde.

A few showers are also possible in Hérault.

Maximum temperatures range from 9°C to 15°C in the northern half of the country, between 3°C and 8°C higher than average.

In the South, the thermometer can exceed 15°C, again a level significantly higher than average, with up to 5°C more than expected at this time.

TUESDAY

Temperatures remain of the same order with a small drop of one or two degrees in the northern half.

The notable difference with Monday is that the gray weather is gaining ground in the north of France.

Showers are possible in Hauts-de-France.

WEDNESDAY

Here too the temperatures should maintain their level.

The sun should shine brightly over the majority of the country.

The north-west quarter of the country will be under clouds with showers in Finistère.

THURSDAY

Gray weather prevails, with the exception of the coasts of Normandy, Picardy and the North, but also the south of the Alps and the edges of the Mediterranean.

Areas below the clouds are expected to experience showers.

Furthermore, the temperature spectrum is narrowing with maximums ranging from 10°C to 13°C throughout the country.

Only the Mediterranean coasts of Occitanie, Bouches-du-Rhône and Var will reach 15°C.

FRIDAY

Overcast weather will affect the entire country with the exception of the South-East.

Clearings will gain ground at the end of the day.

Temperatures will remain similar to those of Thursday.

THE WEEKEND

The trend for the weekend is for overcast weather in the north of France with temperatures around ten degrees.

In the southern half, the sky will be clear and temperatures a little above 10°C.
