Carbon Planet, an innovative startup and Italian benefit company, launches the online platform of the same name with the aim of contributing to the decarbonisation process and providing companies with a tool for exchanging high quality carbon credits, making the removal business transparent and certifiable.
The initiative, explains the company in a note, is in line with the 'Proposal for a regulation establishing a Union certification framework for carbon absorption' promoted by the European Union.
Carbon Planet "is a marketplace which, through Blockchain technology, allows companies to offset and remove their emissions with high quality carbon credits, guaranteeing the traceability and uniqueness of Co2 removal certificates, thus avoiding the risk of double counting ( double counting of the carbon credit). Blockchain technology is therefore used to permanently, securely and immutably track the removal certificates (Cdr) present on the Carbon Planet platform, monitoring their path from their generation and certification to their use".
Carbon Planet aims to promote the transition towards climate neutrality through "Removal credits" deriving from "nature based solutions" within the wood supply chain such as, for example, sustainable forestry management projects and structural wooden construction.
On the occasion of the launch of the platform, the board of directors was appointed, whose president is Riccardo Fraccaro, former undersecretary of state at the presidency of the Council of Ministers.
