Platform X will open a moderation office in Texas with a focus on combating content related to child sexual abuse.
The company made this known in an official post, in the hours in which it suspended searches on the platform concerning Taylor Swift and her deepfakes of a sexual nature.
The initial goal of the Trust and Safety Center of Excellence in Austin will be to recruit 100 content moderators, focusing on eliminating child sexual exploitation content and other violations of the platform's rules, explained Joe Benarroch, head of business operations.
The company purchased by Elon Musk at the end of 2022 almost completely eliminated its content moderation team to cut costs, which is why it ended up in the EU's sights.
Benarroch noted that children under 13 cannot open accounts on X, while young users between the ages of 13 and 17 automatically have a private setting and cannot be targeted by advertisers.
